Dermapen Facial Treatment
Dermapen or collagen induction therapy is the process of using a pen with multiple fine needles inside to vertically pierce the skin in rapid succession, creating micro wounds to promote an epidermal healing response which further initiates the skins natural healing abilities. This treatment stimulates the production of collagen and elastin. It offers corrective benefits and is the optimal choice in preventative skincare. Micro-needling treatment can be done using a derma roller or a mechanical pen. At Lady Grace, a Dermapen is used for this treatment. The micro wounds also improve the absorption of topical products and encourage the natural production of hyaluronic acid in your skin. Dermapen treatments are advised to be done in multiple sessions rather than a once-off treatment. Results are noticeable with consistent treatments while micro-needling is ideal for anyone wanting to address:

How should you prepare for a Dermapen session?
Micro-needling is among the specialised skin treatments therefore it is of the utmost importance that your skin is assessed by a skin care professional before your session. The skin therapist will evaluate your skin giving you feedback about the requirements your skin has. In most cases pre-treatment is required to ensure that the skin is in the best possible condition for this treatment. These pre-treatments will ensure that your skin is hydrated and supple enough to undergo the Dermapen session. Avoid using any active facial products and sun exposure/burn for at least 2-3 days prior to treatment and increase your intake of water and vitamin C.
Dermapen - Aftercare Session
First and foremost, sun exposure is a total no-go for at least 24-72 hours after treatment, the time span is dictated by the way your skin reacts to the treatment and how quick your healing response becomes active. You should avoid any topical product that has not been recommended by your skin therapist. This is because micro needling treatment leaves skin bare, exposed and at risk of picking up infection due to open pores and skin channels.
Avoid using any facial skincare products that contain “active ingredients”, simply because your skin will be extremely sensitive and prone to quick irritation from the application of any product that has not been recommended by your therapist.
Avoid face make up for at least 72-96 hours after treatment. Make up and the chemicals found in cosmetics will further promote discomfort and/or a negative reaction of the skin due to irritation.
As before treatment – remain hydrated to assist the hydration levels of your skin, boosting the healing time or helping it along. Avoid sweat as this will cause pores of the skin to open naturally allowing leeway for skin reaction or irritation.
Post treatment your face may feel or look aggravated – to assist with these sensations, consider an at home professional cooling mask and antioxidant serums to help calm the skin.
